MUSCAT: A delegation from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) begins its visit to the Republic of Singapore yesterday, aiming to strengthen trade and investment relations between the two countries in the private sector and benefit from Singaporean expertise and experience in various fields.

Mustafa bin Ahmed Salman, member of the Board of Directors of OCCI head of the delegation, said this visit seeks to explore trade and investment opportunities between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Singapore and to benefit from Singaporean experiences in the commercial field. The visit comes after the two countries signed number economic agreements within the framework of a state visit made by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the Republic of Singapore in December 2023.

In a statement to the Oman News Agency (ONA) he said that the delegation aims to learn about the latest developments in agricultural industrialization, trade technology, food security, urban planning, finance, stock exchanges, banks, and others.

OCCI, in cooperation with the Singapore Business Federation, has prepared a visit programme for the trade delegation that includes a number of Institutions in the public and private sectors and meeting their business counterparts in Singapore.

The delegation will seek investment opportunities in real estate development, attracting more investments to Oman, and activating the “Share with Us to Promote” initiative by involving entrepreneurs and owners of SMEs in the delegation. This will give them opportunity to learn about the products and learn on the experiences of countries and meeting with owners of commercial companies.

Mustafa pointed out that the volume of trade exchange between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Singapore amounted to about RO 767.6 million by end of 2023, while the number of Singaporean companies in Oman reached 24 with total investments amounting to more than RO 55 million. — ONA
