South Arkansas College hires from within to find its sixth president

Stephanie Rene Tully-Dartez, interim president of South Arkansas College in El Dorado, has been named president, officials announced Thursday.

Tully-Dartez, 42, has spent 14 years at the college in various positions, including vice president for academic affairs since 2021.

She was interim vice president for student services (2022-2023); associate vice president for institutional planning and academic support (2019-2021); associate vice president for planning and career education (2018-2019); associate vice president for workforce and career education (2017-2018); chief institutional effectiveness and advancement officer (2013-2017); and director of institutional research and effectiveness (2009-2013).

Her selection ends a four-month process led by a search committee made up of board members, faculty, staff and community leaders, according to Steve Cousins, chairman of the college's board of trustees. The search produced 22 applicants. From that group, there were seven semi-finalists, then three finalists.

Tully-Dartez has a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering and a master of science in molecular science and nanotechnology, both from Louisiana Tech University.

Her bachelor's degree is from the College of Charleston in South Carolina, where she studied physics. She is from South Carolina.

Tully-Dartez, the community college's sixth president, will assume her role as president effective July 1. The full employment package is being negotiated, but the annual salary is $200,400, a spokesperson said.
