Nepal, on Tuesday (May 1), announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled to be played in the USA and the Caribbean from June 1 to 29.

Rohit Paudel will be leading Nepal in the competition. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) did not spring any big surprises in the squad, rewarding the players for their form in the ACC Premier Cup in Oman as well as the ongoing five-match T20 series against West Indies in Kirtipur.

From the squad that is playing against West Indies, Aarif Sheikh, Bibek Yadav, and Aakash Chand have been left out. Sandeep Lamichhane, who is undoubtedly Nepal's most popular cricketer, has also not been named in the team as he is currently serving a jail sentence for rape.

The squad features experienced names such as Aasif Sheikh, Anil Kumar Sah, Kushal Bhurtel, Kushal Malla, Lalit Rajbanshi, Karan KC, and Sompal Kami. Dipendra Singh Airee is also in the squad and Nepal will be hoping that he continues his heroics in T20s. Last month, Airee became just the third batsman to hit six sixes in an over in T20Is, achieving the feat against Qatar.

Nepal will be playing in the T20 World Cup for the first time since 2014. For the upcoming edition, they are in Group D along with Bangladesh, Netherlands, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. They will be starting their campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup on June 4 against the Netherlands in Dallas.
