T20 World Cup 2024: Nepal Announce 15-Member Squad For Event In USA And West Indies, Rohit Paudel To Lead

Nepal have been clubbed in Group D with South Africa, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Netherlands. They will open their campaign against Netherlands on June 4.

New Delhi: Nepal have put their best forward as the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) named their 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 on Wednesday. Rohit Paudel will lead the side, with their first match on June 4 against The Netherlands in Texas. However, there were no surprises in the selection as the players were rewarded for their ACC Premier Cup shows in Oman and also outings against West Indies A.

In batting Paudel will lead the charge with the likes of all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee, Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh also in the mix. For the unknown, Airee became the third player in T20Is to hit six sixes in an over after Yuvraj Singh and Kieron Pollard. Gulshan Jha, who was a part of the U-19 World Cup side earlier this year, has been included in the side along with 19-year-old Pratis GC.

Sompal Kami, who was a part of the side that made their T20 World Cup debut in 2014, is also in the squad. Left-arm orthodox spinner Lalit Rajbanshi will lead Nepal’s spin threat. All teams are allowed to make changes to their squad until 25 May, after which any alteration will require approval from ICC’s Event Technical Committee.

Nepal will be getting their campaign underway against the Netherlands on June 4 in Dallas. They are clubbed with South Africa, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Netherlands in Group D.
