The annual Hungarian Heritage Day will be held this Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Albany Hungarian Presbyterian Church. Admission is free.
At this event, guests are invited to celebrate local Hungarian heritage. The event will also honor Hungarian citizens who are 75 years and older.
Hungarian Heritage Day activities include enjoying performances of the Komenka Ethnic Dance and Music Ensemble of New Orleans; witnessing a goulash cook-off; touring Hungarian Settlement’s museum, cemetery and church; shopping at vendor booths; and partaking in traditional Hungarian and festival food.
On the menu this year are the Hungarian sausage known as kolbasz, cabbage rolls, baked kifli, po’boys, hotdogs, nachos and drinks.
Tours of the Hungarian Museum will occur throughout the event and are free of charge.
Goulash judging starts at 1 p.m.
